Following a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies at the University of Trento and an interdisciplinary Master’s degree in Contemporary History and Media at the University of Vienna, Lorenzo Vianini earned his PhD from the University of Urbino with a dissertation on the memory cultures in South Tyrol. Drawing on the accounts of local newspapers and periodicals published between 1945 and 1975, the project documents the commemorations, or controversies, surrounding the events of 4 November 1918 and 25 April 1945, so as to investigate the ways in which the memories of the Italian and German linguistic groups in South Tyrol evolved over the course of those three postwar decades.
From April 2025 to July 2026, he served as a Project Associate at the Centre for Regional History on “HISTONA: Odonomastica Storica nello Spazio Pubblico” (Historical Hodonymy in Public Space), before becoming a researcher at the Centre in August 2026.
